KMA is easily probably one of the best dojos in the state of Rhode Island. The dojo is beautiful, the staff are the best, and the training is one-of-a-kind. I've been training for about 3-4 and a half years here and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. If you're thinking of looking into martial arts, this is the place to be.

I have take Martial Arts at many dojos in my life and Kiefer's Martial Arts is one of the best with top level instructors that are passionate about their art and Renshi Mike Kiefer is one of the most personable instructors I have worked with. Our daughter Heather, just earned her 1st dan black belt in June, and she knows that if she puts her mind to somthing no matter how hard that she can accomplish it. Thanks Renshi Mike, Sensi Rob and all the others that make this dojo an excellent place to train.

Keifer's Martial Arts has had such a positive effect on Tyler. He is becoming a very confident capable young man because of this program. For parents it is additional positive reinforcement to what we are teaching at home. His grades and attitude toward accomplishing his goals has completely been reformed in the last 2 years of attending this school. This is a life changing activity for your child and skills that can be continued into adulthood. Thank you for what you all do for Tyler and the rest of our Martial arts family.

My twin boys started at KMA when they were five years old. They will be attempting to pass the black belt test in May and have been working on mastering 100 crunches, 40 push ups, and the 3 mile run under 30 minutes. They are now ten years old. Keep your fingers crossed for them!
Besides the physical aspect of the program, the boys are focusing on discipline, integrity, strong moral courage, and other important life skills. I have seen improvement in their behaviors at home and in school. My hope is that they grow and mature into strong, well disciplined young men, with the KMA team supporting them along the journey.
I truly appreciate the genuine concern and care the KMA teaching staff has demonstrated for my boys. "It takes a village," for sure!

Kiefers Martial Arts have embraced my son for the last 5 and a half years. He found something to be passionate about and exploded with confidence! I'm so thankful to them for accepting each and every child for who they are and making them the best they can be.

We first enrolled our son into Little Ninjas when he was 5 years old to help with focus , self discipline and structure. He had just entered kindergarten and although he wasn't necessarily in need of any of this extra Instruction.... our thoughts were to give him an upper hand with learning how to handle distraction and excel. We thought we would "try" it..., well its been one of the best decisions as parents we've made for him. He is about to turn 8 years old.... and thrives at KMA.... he is now in the Black Belt Training program and excited to continue to advance and become a member of the demo team!!

The staff, and environment at KMA is phenomenal! Everyone makes you feel like part of an amazing family. In the few months my son has been with them, I have seen his coordination, focus, and all around physical/mental health improve drastically! I even witnessed with my own eyes the very moment he became confident! He adopted a new confident walk, and a CAN DO attitude! Enrolling him with KMA was one of the best decisions I have EVER made. THANK YOU to the amazing staff, and I look forward to watching the continued growth!

I can’t say enough about how great our experience has been at Kiefer’s Martial Arts. Everyone there goes above and beyond to keep our 6 year old twins focused, motivated, and engaged. The staff to student ratio is excellent! We are very happy with the choice to send the boys to Kiefer’s.

How Karate Can Make Your Child a Better Athlete

Sure we have kids at KMA whose ONLY activity is karate, but we have far more that play other sports as well. And sometimes parents wonder if their children do play team sports if martial arts can still fit in? So I wanted to make the case that martial arts AND team sports is a great idea…

***We offer an incredibly flexible schedule with class options offered 6 days per week, and at different times, so MOST sports schedules can be worked around karate.

***Karate is an amazing physical complement to any sport… it makes you stronger, more flexible, more coordinated, more focused and teaches life skills like goal setting and perseverance that will serve your athlete well on the field or court.

***Karate is year round so your child will stay in shape even during the off season.

***I’ll make the argument that BUSY is good… sure, everybody needs some down time, but karate class is only 45 minutes long and it’s a great balance to sitting in front of a TV or Xbox. Your child may have a physical activity every day after school…but that’s a GOOD thing!

***Both karate and team sports teach life lessons, absolutely, but karate is a lifestyle not a sport. While it is indeed physical I believe our main objective is to develop good character. At our dojo, you can’t advance if you are doing poorly in school or being disrespectful to you parents, becasue that is a an integral part of what we teach.

***Karate teaches you self defense and develops self confidence for every single person who trains for any length of time. These are skills that are needed in today’s world of bullying and peer pressure.

So if the question comes up, karate or team sports? The logical answer is both… they are great complements to each other. I encourage our karate students to participate in team sports if they are so inclined, but NOT at the expense of their martial arts. One thing I’m absolutely sure of is that training in martial arts with make your child athlete better physically and mentally at the sports they play!

Remember, we PLAY sports, we STUDY karate.
